Ulita Knaus is a Slovenian-born, Berlin-based vocalist, composer, and performance artist recognized for her unique approach to vocal improvisation and extended vocal techniques. Emerging from the European free improvisation scene in the early 2010s, Knaus quickly gained attention for performances prioritizing texture, physicality, and the exploration of the voice as a purely sonic instrument.

Her discography includes collaborations with prominent figures in experimental music like John Butcher, Phil Minton, and Steve Noble, appearing on labels such as Confront Recordings and Not Applicable. Knaus’s solo work – notably albums like *Echolocation* (2018) and *Locus* (2021) – demonstrates a compelling blend of abstract soundscapes and deeply emotive vocalizations.

She frequently incorporates found objects and prepared voice into her performances, creating layered and often unsettling sound worlds.
