Truls Mørk is a Norwegian classical cellist internationally recognized for his deeply expressive interpretations and innovative approach to the instrument. Born in 1986, he began cello studies at age five and quickly distinguished himself, winning the 2002 International Cello Competition “Young Virtuosos” in Moscow. He continued his education with renowned cellists Frans Helmerson and Steven Isserlis.

Mørk’s repertoire spans from Bach’s solo suites – a cornerstone of his acclaimed discography, including multiple recordings lauded for their intimacy and technical brilliance – to contemporary works. He frequently commissions and premieres pieces by living composers, demonstrating a commitment to expanding the cello’s possibilities.

Notable recordings include critically praised albums of Britten’s Cello Suites, Dvořák's Cello Concerto with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and a series exploring the complete works for unaccompanied cello by Grieg. Beyond orchestral performances and solo recitals, Mørk is dedicated to chamber music, collaborating with leading musicians worldwide. He currently serves as an artistic director of the Risør Chamber Music Festival in Norway, further cementing his position as a significant figure in the classical music landscape.
