Ton Koopman is a renowned Dutch conductor, organist, and harpsichordist celebrated for his expertise in Baroque music. Born in 1944 in Zwolle, Netherlands, Koopman has established himself as a leading figure in historically informed performance, specializing particularly in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Dieterich Buxtehude. He studied organ and harpsichord at the Amsterdam Conservatory and quickly gained international acclaim for his virtuosic playing and scholarly approach.

Koopman’s career highlights include founding the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir in 1992, through which he has recorded complete cycles of Bach cantatas and other major Baroque repertoire. His interpretations are noted for their vibrant energy, clarity, and stylistic authenticity, combining meticulous research with expressive freedom.
