Tom Barford is a British jazz double bassist, composer, and broadcaster renowned for his distinctive melodic improvisations and deeply researched musical explorations. Initially gaining prominence with the acclaimed Ezra Collective, where he served as bassist from 2016-2022, Barford has since established a flourishing solo career. He blends influences from jazz traditions – particularly those of Charles Mingus and Paul Chambers – with elements of funk, soul, and electronic music.

Beyond performance, Barford is a respected radio presenter, hosting the “Jazz Now!” show on BBC Radio 3 since 2021, championing contemporary jazz artists and broadening the genre's audience. His debut album *Worlds Within Worlds* (2023), released on Brownswood Recordings, received widespread critical acclaim for its intricate compositions and textural depth, featuring contributions from Nubya Garcia and Sheila Maurice-Grey.

He’s also a member of several collaborative projects including Doomuneasy with Moses Boyd and Yussef Dayes.
