To Athena is the musical project of Brooklyn-based songwriter and producer, Georgia Buchanan. Emerging in 2016, To Athena quickly gained recognition for a distinctive blend of dream pop, shoegaze, and indie rock, characterized by layered guitars, ethereal vocals, and introspective lyricism. Buchanan self-released several EPs – including *Whispers* (2017) and *Brewery* (2018) – building a dedicated online following through platforms like Bandcamp.
Her debut full-length album, *Hisper*, arrived in 2021 via Run For Cover Records to critical acclaim, lauded for its emotional depth and sonic textures. The album explored themes of memory, loss, and self-discovery. To Athena’s sound draws comparisons to artists like Mazzy Star and Slowdive while maintaining a uniquely modern sensibility.
Buchanan handles all aspects of the project – writing, recording, mixing, and mastering – demonstrating significant artistic control. She has toured extensively across North America supporting acts like Wednesday and Horse Jumper of Love, solidifying her presence within the indie music scene.
