Timsel, born Timo Selänniemi, is a Finnish multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer gaining recognition for his atmospheric and emotionally resonant electronic music. Initially emerging in the mid-2010s with self-released EPs on SoundCloud, Timsel quickly cultivated a dedicated online following drawn to his blend of ambient textures, downtempo beats, and melancholic melodies.

His sound is often categorized as melodic techno or progressive house, though it transcends easy genre classification incorporating elements of IDM and cinematic soundscapes. A key characteristic is his skillful use of piano and layered synthesizers creating a distinctly emotive quality.

Timsel’s breakthrough came with releases on Anjunadeep (Above & Beyond’s label) starting with "Afterglow" in 2018. He has since released multiple EPs and albums including “Polar Journey” (2020) and “Into the Deep” (2023) on the label, consistently charting on Beatport’s melodic house & techno charts. He's known for frequent live performances showcasing his ability to translate studio intricacies into captivating sets, including appearances at major festivals like EDC Mexico and Untold Festival.
