Tim Garcia is a Puerto Rican Latin Grammy-winning musician, arranger, and producer renowned for his work in salsa, Latin jazz, and contemporary Latin music. Beginning his career as a percussionist with Willie Colón in 1993, Garcia quickly established himself as a vital force within the genre. He served as musical director for Rubén Blades for over two decades (1995-2015), significantly shaping Blades’ sound and arrangements during a highly prolific period including albums like “Undecided” and “Absolute Original.”
Garcia’s arranging skills are characterized by intricate horn sections, dynamic rhythmic interplay, and a deep respect for salsa's traditional foundations while incorporating modern elements. He has collaborated with artists including Celia Cruz, Tito Nieves, and Marc Anthony.
Beyond performing and arranging, Garcia is an accomplished producer, earning a Latin Grammy Award for Producer of the Year in 2014 for his work on multiple projects including Blades’ “Son de Pan y Rio.” He continues to be actively involved in music production and arrangement, consistently pushing boundaries within Latin music while honoring its rich heritage.
