Thomas Hoffmann is a German composer and multi-instrumentalist renowned for his atmospheric and emotionally resonant electronic music, primarily within the dark ambient, neoclassical darkwave, and ethereal wave genres. Beginning his musical journey in the early 1990s, Hoffmann initially gained recognition as a founding member of the influential darkwave act, Diary of Dreams. He contributed significantly to their sound for over two decades, co-writing and performing on numerous albums including *Chandelier Madness* (1994) and *Nichts von Diesem Bereut* (2002).

Since 2008, Hoffmann has pursued a prolific solo career, releasing albums under his own name via the German label, Cold Meat Industry (and later, Cyclic Law). His solo work emphasizes intricate soundscapes built from synthesizers, piano, and often incorporating field recordings. Albums like *Qual* (2011) and *Heiligtum* (2017) demonstrate his mastery of creating deeply immersive sonic experiences.

Hoffmann’s compositions have been featured in film and television soundtracks. He continues to tour internationally, performing both solo sets and occasionally reuniting with Diary of Dreams.
