Experience The Airlettes
The Airlettes were an American girl group, active primarily from 1963 to 1967, originating from Cleveland, Ohio. Initially formed as The Four Lads & a Lady (featuring Patricia “Patsy” DeVecchio, Carol Crawford, Diane DiPiero, and William "Bill" Spangler), they transitioned to an all-female lineup after Spangler's departure and became The Airlettes.
Signed to Dyno-Mite Records, a subsidiary of Atco Records, they achieved regional success with their energetic blend of garage rock and early soul. Their biggest hit, “Mr. Lee” (1965), reached #94 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains their signature song – notable for its driving beat and call-and-response vocals.
The group toured extensively throughout the mid-60s, often opening for national acts like The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones. Subsequent singles like “I’m Gonna Love Him” and “He’s Got It” failed to chart nationally but continued their popularity in the Ohio/Midwest area.
