Experience Telmo Pires

Telmo Pires is a Portuguese fado vocalist and instrumentalist (Portuguese guitar) renowned for revitalizing traditional fado while incorporating influences from jazz, classical music, and world music. Born in 1976, Pires didn’t begin his professional musical journey until his late twenties, initially studying architecture before dedicating himself fully to music. He’s widely recognized for his innovative approach to the Portuguese guitar, moving beyond purely accompaniment to establish it as a leading melodic voice.

Pires’ discography includes critically acclaimed albums like "Alma Livre" (2008) and “Momentos” (2013), showcasing both original compositions and reinterpretations of classic fado themes. He has collaborated with prominent artists across genres, including Carminho and Maria João, broadening fado's reach.

Beyond recording, Pires is a sought-after performer internationally, frequently appearing at major fado festivals and concert halls. He's distinguished by a vocal style characterized by emotional depth and technical precision alongside his virtuosity on the Portuguese guitar. Notably, he received the Prémio José Afonso in 2014 recognizing his contribution to Portuguese song and culture.
