Tariq Al-Sabir is a highly influential American DJ, producer, and musicologist specializing in Black electronic music history. Rising to prominence through his celebrated mixes and DJ sets beginning in the early 2010s, Al-Sabir gained wider recognition as Frankie Knuckles’ tour DJ prior to Knuckles’ passing in 2014. He's deeply committed to preserving and contextualizing the origins of house, techno, and related genres.

Al-Sabir’s style is characterized by meticulously researched selections spanning decades of dance music – often incorporating rare edits, forgotten gems, and foundational tracks. Beyond performance, he lectures extensively on the cultural and historical significance of Black dance music at institutions like Red Bull Music Academy and universities nationwide.

He's released official remixes for artists like Larry Heard (Mr. Fingers) and contributed mixes to platforms like Resident Advisor and Boiler Room. Notably, his “Dark Social” series explores the often-overlooked social networks within Black electronic music communities.
