Experience Taarka

Taarka is a Boulder, Colorado-based band, initially a duo formed in 2001 by David Tichane (guitar, vocals) and Claire Augustine (fiddle, vocals). Their sound is a distinctive blend often described as “gypsygrass,” fusing bluegrass instrumentation with elements of jazz, Celtic, and world music. Tichane’s intricate guitar work is central to their style, complemented by Augustine's virtuosic fiddling and vocal harmonies.

Early albums like *Transcontinental* (2005) and *The List* (2008) established their independent reputation through extensive touring. The band expanded to include bassist Ezra Carlson and drummer/percussionist Kevin Lewis, solidifying their current lineup. Taarka has consistently released critically acclaimed albums including *Shine On* (2013), *Emma* (2017), and *Songs for the Longest Night* (2021).

Known for their energetic live performances and improvisational skills, Taarka frequently collaborates with artists across genres. They’ve shared stages with acts like Leftover Salmon and Bela Fleck. Beyond performing, they are dedicated music educators, offering workshops and lessons.
