Experience Swedish Radio Choir
The Swedish Radio Choir (Sveriges Radiokör) is a renowned professional choir based in Stockholm, Sweden, directly affiliated with Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Radio. Founded in 1925 as a small ensemble, it evolved into a full-time, 60-voice mixed choir in the 1950s. Throughout its history, the choir has been celebrated for its exceptional blend, clarity, and versatility across a vast repertoire.
Initially focused on broadcasting choral works, the choir quickly gained international recognition through extensive recording projects and concert performances. They’ve collaborated with leading conductors including Herbert Blomstedt, Eric Ericson (a significant formative influence), and Sir Colin Davis. A defining characteristic is their commitment to both traditional choral literature – Bach’s Passions being a cornerstone – and commissioning/performing contemporary compositions.
Notably, the Swedish Radio Choir achieved Grammy Awards for its recordings of Lauridsen’s *Lux Aeterna* (2007) and Rautavaara’s *Visions de l'Amen* (2011). They are frequently featured at major festivals and maintain an active touring schedule.
