Steve Gadd is arguably the most influential studio and jazz drummer of the past fifty years. Born in Colonie, New York, in 1945, his career blossomed in the 1970s, quickly becoming a first-call session musician for artists across genres. He’s renowned for his impeccable timekeeping, ghost notes, and versatility.

Gadd’s distinctive drumming is instantly recognizable on iconic tracks like Steely Dan’s “Aja” (featuring his famed purdie shuffle variation), James Taylor’s “Mexico,” and Eric Clapton’s “Further On Up the Road.” He propelled Paul Simon's *Still Crazy After All These Years* with his sensitive and nuanced playing.

Beyond pop and rock, Gadd is a significant figure in jazz, leading his own groups and collaborating extensively with artists like Chick Corea and Joe Zawinul. He was a founding member of the influential jazz fusion group Stuff.
