Experience Stella Chen

Stella Chen is a rapidly ascending violinist captivating audiences with her dynamic performances and innovative approach to classical music. Born in Guangzhou, China, she began violin studies at age four and quickly distinguished herself, winning numerous national and international competitions including the 2019 Cooperstown Music Festival Competition and the 2021 Klein International Competition.

Chen currently pursues her Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory with Miriam Fried, having previously studied at the Juilliard School Pre-College program. Her repertoire spans from Bach and Paganini to contemporary works, often incorporating theatrical elements and cross-genre collaborations. She’s known for a particularly emotive vibrato and powerful stage presence.

Beyond solo performances with orchestras like the Boston Pops and appearances at festivals including Ravinia and Marlboro, Chen actively champions new music, commissioning works and collaborating with composers. She maintains an active online presence sharing performance excerpts and insights into her practice. Recent critical acclaim highlights her “fiery intensity” (Boston Classical Review) and “technical brilliance” (The Strad). Her debut album is anticipated in late 2024.
