Experience Space Jam

Space Jam (real name David Shayman) is an American electronic music producer and DJ, primarily known for his work within the breakbeat hardcore, jungle, and drum and bass scenes. Emerging in the early 1990s, he initially gained recognition as a member of the influential Renegade Hardware collective alongside artists like Optical and Ed Rush.

Shayman’s style is characterized by its dark, atmospheric soundscapes, complex rhythmic programming, and heavy sub-bass – hallmarks of techstep and neurofunk. He released extensively on labels like Prototype Recordings and his own imprint, Kaliph Recordings. His debut album, *Plastik Phantom* (1999), is considered a seminal work in the genre.

Beyond solo work, Space Jam contributed significantly to the formation of Bad Company UK alongside DJ Fresh and Friction (now BBC Radio 1 DJ). He later pursued a career in sound design for film trailers, contributing to the sound of blockbusters like *Inception*, *The Dark Knight Rises*, and *Pacific Rim*. While less active as a performing artist in recent years, his earlier productions remain highly influential within electronic music circles and continue to be played by DJs globally.
