Slettahjell transitioned to a solo career marked by a distinctive style blending jazz, folk, and contemporary classical elements. Her albums, including "Ptarmigan" (2009) – nominated for the Nordic Music Prize – and “African Suite” (2016), showcase her powerful vocal range and innovative arrangements. “African Suite,” particularly, demonstrated her ability to seamlessly integrate African musical traditions with her established sound, featuring collaborations with South African musicians.
