Experience Sigrid Horn

Sigrid Horn (born Sigrid Ursula Solberg, September 19, 1962) is a Norwegian jazz singer and educator renowned for her rich contralto voice and interpretive skills. Emerging in the late 1980s, she quickly established herself on the European jazz scene, notably collaborating with prominent musicians like Kenny Wheeler and Arild Andersen.

Horn’s style blends traditional jazz vocalism with elements of contemporary improvisation and a distinctly Nordic sensibility. She's celebrated for her nuanced phrasing and ability to convey deep emotional resonance within complex harmonic structures. Unlike many vocalists focused on repertoire pieces, Horn frequently performs original compositions alongside standards, often co-writing with collaborators like bassist Ole Marius Moen.

Throughout her career, she’s released numerous critically acclaimed albums including *Standards & Stories* (1993) and *Long Way Home* (2005), earning Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy) nominations. Beyond performance, Horn is a dedicated educator, holding a professorship at the Jazz Department of Trondheim Music Conservatory. Her influence extends through mentorship and fostering emerging talent within Norwegian jazz.
