Severin von Eckardstein is a German pianist renowned for his deeply sensitive and intellectually rigorous interpretations of Romantic and 20th/21st-century classical music. Born in Munich in 1986, he studied with renowned pianists such as Wilhelm Kempff, Lazar Berman, and Dmitri Bashkirov. He gained international recognition winning First Prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2018), a competition notoriously difficult to win.

Von Eckardstein’s repertoire is broad, encompassing composers like Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, and Ligeti, but he’s particularly celebrated for his nuanced performances of Chopin’s complete works. His style is characterized by a remarkable clarity of touch, a profound understanding of phrasing, and an avoidance of superficial virtuosity – prioritizing musicality above all else.

He performs regularly with leading orchestras worldwide including the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
