Semi-Toned is a British vocal group formed in 1994 at the University of Bristol. Originally a cappella, they’ve evolved to incorporate beatboxing, vocal instrumentation, and inventive arrangements spanning multiple genres – pop, rock, soul, and even electronic dance music. They are renowned for their dynamic stage presence and tight harmonies.

The group gained national recognition winning the BBC Radio 2 Choir of the Year competition in 2001, a significant achievement for non-traditional choral ensembles. Since then, Semi-Toned has consistently toured the UK and internationally, performing at festivals like Glastonbury and supporting acts like Jools Holland.

Their discography includes several studio albums – *Smile* (2005), *One Step Further* (2011), and *Future Past* (2017) – alongside numerous EPs and live recordings. Beyond performance, they actively engage in music education through workshops and outreach programs. Semi-Toned’s longevity stems from a rotating membership largely recruited from Bristol University students, ensuring a constant influx of talent while maintaining their signature sound. They continue to push boundaries within vocal music, blending artistry with entertainment.
