Experience Sára Milfajtová

Sára Milfajtová is a Czech-Slovak vocalist and composer rapidly gaining international recognition for her distinctive approach to vocal improvisation and extended vocal techniques. Born in 1994, she initially trained classically in opera singing at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia, before pivoting towards experimental and contemporary vocal practices.

Milfajtová’s style blends elements of free improvisation, jazz, folk influences from her Moravian roots, and contemporary classical music. She frequently utilizes microtonality, multiphonics, and unconventional vocal textures to create atmospheric and emotionally resonant soundscapes.

She leads the ensemble *Škvore*, exploring collective improvisation and sonic storytelling. Milfajtová has collaborated with artists like Colin Stetson, Matan Ben Cnaan, and Tony Buck, performing extensively across Europe and North America at venues including Moers Festival (Germany), Jazzfest Berlin, and Unsound (Poland). Her debut solo album *Fragmenty* (2023) received critical acclaim for its innovative vocal work and introspective quality, earning features in publications like The Wire and Bandcamp Daily. She is currently a resident artist at Radialsystem V in Berlin.
