Sandrine Piau is a celebrated French coloratura soprano renowned for her interpretations of Baroque and Classical repertoire, particularly the music of Handel, Mozart, and Rameau. Born in 1964, she studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and quickly established herself as a leading exponent of technically demanding vocal ornamentation.

Piau’s career blossomed in the late 1980s and 90s, performing regularly with major opera houses including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Metropolitan Opera; and Opéra National de Paris. She’s particularly acclaimed for roles like Zerbinetta in *Ariadne auf Naxos*, Olympia in *Les Contes d'Hoffmann*, and the Queen of the Night in *The Magic Flute*.

Beyond operatic stages, Piau enjoys a distinguished concert career, frequently collaborating with prominent period-instrument ensembles like Les Arts Florissants under William Christie – with whom she has numerous critically lauded recordings.
