Sam Leak is a British jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader renowned for his subtly innovative approach to modern jazz. Initially gaining recognition as a sideman for artists like Soweto Kinch and Zara McFarlane throughout the 2010s, Leak established himself as a compelling leader with the release of his debut album *Latitude* in 2019 on Edition Records.

His style blends post-bop harmonic sophistication with elements of electronic music and ambient textures, often incorporating looped sounds and subtle effects into his live performances. Leak's compositions are characterized by melodic clarity and a focus on interplay within the ensemble.

He’s a frequent collaborator, notably with cellist Shirley Turrentine and drummer James Maddock, forming a core trio that defines much of his recent work. His second album, *How It Ends*, released in 2023, received critical acclaim for its introspective mood and refined arrangements. Leak’s work has been featured on BBC Radio 3’s *Jazz Now* and he regularly performs at leading UK jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. He continues to push boundaries within contemporary jazz while maintaining a deep respect for its traditions.
