Experience Roulette

Roulette (born Paul Hilaire in Brooklyn, New York, 1969) is an American hip-hop artist and producer renowned for his distinctive, often darkly humorous lyrical style and innovative production techniques. Rising to prominence in the early 1990s as part of the Native Tongues collective alongside De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and others, Roulette initially gained recognition for his work with MC Search & Destroy.

He released his debut solo album *Deadly Combinations* in 1994 on Profile Records, showcasing a complex blend of boom-bap beats, jazz samples, and introspective, narrative-driven rhymes. While critically acclaimed for its originality and lyrical depth – often exploring themes of street life with a unique perspective – it didn't achieve mainstream commercial success.

Roulette continued releasing music independently throughout the late 90s and 2000s, including albums like *Port Authority* (2001) and *Recipe Book* (2007). He’s also a respected producer, contributing to tracks by various artists. His influence is noted within alternative hip-hop circles for pushing boundaries in both lyricism and sonic experimentation.
