Roger Meddows Taylor, born 26 July 1949, is a celebrated English musician best known as the drummer for the iconic rock band Queen. Beyond his powerful and distinctive drumming – characterized by elaborate arrangements and prominent use of timpani and layered percussion – Taylor is a prolific songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. He penned several Queen hits including “Radio Ga Ga,” “A Kind of Magic,” and “These Are the Days of Our Lives.”

Taylor’s vocal contributions are instantly recognizable, notably delivering lead vocals on “I’m in Love with My Car” and providing soaring harmonies throughout Queen’s discography. He holds a degree in dentistry, briefly practicing before dedicating himself fully to music.

Following Freddie Mercury's death, Taylor took on more vocal duties and co-led Queen with Brian May, continuing to tour extensively with various vocalists including Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert. He has released five solo albums, showcasing his diverse musical interests ranging from progressive rock to electronic music. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 as a member of Queen, Taylor remains an active performer and influential figure in rock music.
