Experience Roger Muraro
Roger Muraro is a Brazilian guitarist and composer renowned for his virtuosity in choro, a complex and highly syncopated form of Brazilian instrumental music. Born in 1959 in São Paulo, Muraro began studying guitar at age nine and quickly distinguished himself as a prodigious talent. He formally studied at the Conservatory of Music of São Paulo, further honing his skills.
Muraro’s style blends traditional choro techniques with influences from jazz harmony and classical music, resulting in a uniquely expressive and innovative sound. He's widely considered one of the most important choro guitarists of his generation, carrying on the legacy of masters like Pixinguinha and Jacob do Bandolim.
He has released numerous solo albums including “Brasileiro” (1993) and “Samba de Gafieira” (2004), receiving critical acclaim for his technical brilliance and melodic sensitivity. Beyond solo work, Muraro frequently collaborates with leading Brazilian musicians and performs internationally at prestigious festivals. He also dedicates significant time to teaching, nurturing the next generation of choro musicians through workshops and masterclasses, solidifying his role as a cultural ambassador for this vital Brazilian art form.
