Rainer Böhm is a German composer and multi-instrumentalist primarily known for his work in dark ambient, drone, and experimental electronic music. Emerging in the early 1990s, Böhm initially gained recognition within the industrial scene, releasing material on influential labels like Cold Meat Industry (as part of Wiese) and Malignant Records.

His solo work, however, established him as a distinct voice in atmospheric soundscapes. Böhm’s style is characterized by slowly evolving textures, heavily processed field recordings, and a minimalist approach to composition, often evoking feelings of isolation, vastness, and subtle dread. He frequently utilizes tape manipulation and analog synthesizers to create his signature sound.

Throughout his prolific career, Böhm has released numerous albums on labels including Cyclic Law, Denovali Records, and Cryo Chamber. Notable albums include *Schattenland* (2008) and *Eiszeit* (2014), both critically acclaimed for their immersive qualities. He's also contributed to several collaborative projects and film scores.
