Radek Baborák is a globally renowned Czech trombone player, celebrated for his virtuosity and innovative approach to the instrument. Born in 1976, he began his musical journey on the trumpet before switching to trombone, graduating with honors from the Prague Conservatory and subsequently studying with renowned trombonists such as Michel Becquet and Christian Lindberg.
Baborák is a champion of both classical repertoire and contemporary music, frequently commissioning new works and pushing the boundaries of trombone performance. He’s a founding member of the award-winning trombone quartet, Baborák Quartet, which has garnered international acclaim for its diverse programming and technical brilliance – winning the Concertino Praga competition in 2002.
Beyond his quartet work, Baborák enjoys a successful solo career performing with leading orchestras worldwide, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. He's released several critically acclaimed solo albums showcasing his exceptional technique and musicality, often exploring unusual sonic landscapes. A dedicated educator, Baborák holds a professorship at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Prague, nurturing the next generation of trombone players.
