Experience Prim

Prim, born Joshua Meier, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer known for his lo-fi indie rock and bedroom pop aesthetic. Emerging in the late 2010s, Prim initially gained traction through self-released music on platforms like Bandcamp and SoundCloud, building a dedicated online following. He’s characterized by heavily layered instrumentation, often playing all instruments himself, and a melancholic yet catchy melodic sensibility.

His breakthrough came with the 2019 EP *Artwalk*, followed by increasing recognition with singles like “I Feel Strange” and “Crimson.” Prim signed with Run For Cover Records in 2021, releasing his debut full-length album *Stuck in the Suburbs* that same year to critical acclaim. The album explored themes of suburban isolation and youthful ennui.

Prim’s sound draws comparisons to artists like Car Seat Headrest and Alex G, but maintains a distinct textural quality achieved through deliberate production choices – slightly distorted guitars, reverb-drenched vocals, and a generally intimate sonic space. He continues to tour extensively and release new music independently alongside RFC, solidifying his position within the contemporary indie landscape.
