Experience Plácido Domingo

Plácido Domingo is a globally celebrated Spanish tenor, one of “The Three Tenors” alongside Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras, who redefined opera’s popular appeal in the 1990s. Born in Madrid in 1941, Domingo began his career performing in Mexico before achieving international recognition at Covent Garden (1974) and the Metropolitan Opera (1968).

Initially renowned for his dramatic tenor roles – Otello, Manrico in *Il Trovatore*, and Don José in *Carmen* being signature performances – Domingo later transitioned to baritone roles in the 1990s. His repertoire spans over 150 operatic roles, demonstrating exceptional vocal versatility. Beyond opera, he’s a prolific recording artist with over 150 complete opera recordings and numerous concert albums.

Domingo is a committed advocate for young singers, founding Operalia, an international vocal competition. He has conducted orchestras worldwide and served as Artistic Director of both the Los Angeles Opera (1984-2001) and the Washington National Opera (1996-2011).
