Piotr Damasiewicz is a Polish double bassist, composer, and improviser renowned for his innovative approach to both jazz and contemporary classical music. Born in 1983, he initially studied classical double bass at the Academy of Music in Katowice, later focusing on jazz and improvisation. Damasiewicz quickly distinguished himself through a unique sonic palette, employing extended techniques – preparations involving objects placed *on* the strings – to create percussive and textural soundscapes alongside traditional bowing and plucking.

He leads the critically acclaimed Piotr Damasiewicz Trio, featuring Adam Bałdych on violin and Bartłomiej Staromiejski on drums, releasing albums like "Hymn" (2018) and “Smile” (2020) to widespread praise. Beyond his trio work, Damasiewicz collaborates extensively with artists across genres, including Marcin Wasilewski, Harold Rubin, and Tony Malaby.
