Peter Donohoe is a highly esteemed British pianist renowned for his profound interpretations of Romantic and 20th/21st-century repertoire. Born in 1953, he rose to international prominence after winning the Gold Medal at the 1987 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow – a feat achieved by only a handful of British pianists.

Donohoe’s discography is extensive, featuring landmark recordings of Rachmaninoff (particularly his concertos and preludes), Prokofiev (including all piano sonatas), and works by composers like Alkan, Lyapunov, and Medtner, often championing unjustly neglected figures. He's known for a powerful technique combined with lyrical sensitivity and a deeply intellectual approach to music.

Beyond solo performances with leading orchestras worldwide – including the London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic – Donohoe is a dedicated chamber musician, frequently collaborating with ensembles like the Emerson String Quartet.
