Paloma Friedhoff is a German-Brazilian composer, sound artist, and performer whose work explores the intersection of experimental electronic music, field recordings, and contemporary classical composition. Born in 1989, she studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and with renowned composer Wolfgang Rihm.

Friedhoff’s compositions often utilize granular synthesis and spectral analysis of natural sounds – particularly those sourced from the Amazon rainforest, reflecting her Brazilian heritage – creating immersive and texturally rich sonic landscapes. She’s known for a deliberately slow, patient approach to composition, emphasizing subtle shifts in timbre and harmonic density.

Her debut album, *Mémoires de son* (2021) on Room40, received critical acclaim for its evocative sound world and innovative use of technology. Subsequent releases include *Joy Station* (2023), further solidifying her distinct voice. Friedhoff has presented her work at prestigious venues including Unsound Festival, CTM Festival, and Donaueschingen Musiktage.
