Omar Hakim is a highly influential American drummer and percussionist renowned for his versatility across jazz, pop, and R&B. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1959, Hakim began his professional career in the early 1980s, quickly gaining recognition for his innovative technique and impeccable timing. He’s perhaps best known for his extensive work with Weather Report throughout the 1980s, contributing significantly to albums like *Procession* and *Domino Theory*.

Beyond Weather Report, Hakim’s discography boasts collaborations with a staggering array of artists including David Bowie (on *Let's Dance*), Madonna (“Like a Prayer”), Sting, Mick Jagger, and Mariah Carey. His drumming is characterized by ghost notes, polyrhythms, and a distinctive feel that blends technical prowess with musical sensitivity.
