Olga Kern is a highly acclaimed Russian-American pianist celebrated for her passionate interpretations and virtuosity. Born in Moscow in 1979, she began piano studies at age five and quickly distinguished herself, winning the First Prize at the Tenth International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2001 – a feat not achieved by an American pianist since Van Cliburn in 1962.

Kern’s repertoire spans from Mozart and Beethoven to Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev, showcasing both lyrical sensitivity and powerful technique. She is particularly renowned for her deeply felt performances of Rachmaninoff, often considered a specialty. A dedicated advocate for his music, she served as Artistic Advisor to the Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition.

She regularly performs with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 2008, Kern became a Steinway Artist. Beyond performance, she founded the Olga Kern International Piano Competition in 2015, fostering young talent. Her discography includes critically lauded recordings of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Liszt on labels like Harmonia Mundi and Onyx Classics.
