Ola Kvernberg is a Norwegian musician renowned for his virtuosic command of the hardanger fiddle and his innovative approach to traditional Norwegian folk music. Born in 1979, Kvernberg initially trained classically on violin before dedicating himself to the hardanger fiddle, a uniquely Norwegian instrument with sympathetic strings.

He’s a prolific recording artist, releasing albums under his own name and collaborating extensively with artists across genres – from jazz (Trygve Seim) to electronic music (Biosphere) and rock (Motorpsycho). His solo work often blends traditional Norwegian tunes with improvisational elements, looping, and effects pedals, creating a sound that's both deeply rooted in tradition *and* strikingly modern.

Kvernberg has received numerous accolades including three Spellemannpriser (Norwegian Grammy Awards) – in 2008 for *Nyckelharpa*, in 2012 for *Ola Kvernberg Trio*, and again in 2017 for *Steintun*. He’s also known for composing music for film and theatre.
