Experience Nederlands Kamerkoor
Nederlands Kamerkoor (Netherlands Chamber Choir), founded in 1939, is internationally renowned as a pioneering vocal ensemble. Originally established as a mixed choir focusing on Renaissance polyphony, the group quickly expanded its repertoire to encompass 20th and 21st-century compositions, becoming particularly celebrated for its contemporary a cappella work. Throughout its history, the choir has commissioned and premiered numerous pieces from leading composers like György Ligeti, Steve Reich, and Kaija Saariaho.
Known for its clarity, precision, and expressive range, Nederlands Kamerkoor doesn’t adhere to a single stylistic niche; they perform sacred music, opera collaborations (notably with Pierre Boulez’s *Le Marteau sans Maître*), world music fusions – including projects with Kronos Quartet and Philip Glass – and innovative theatrical productions. They’ve garnered multiple ECHO Klassik awards, including “Choir of the Year” several times.
Under various conductors including Jan Pasveer and Peter Dijkstra (current artistic leader since 2015), the choir maintains a rigorous performance schedule globally and boasts an extensive discography on labels like Harmonia Mundi.
