Nat Reeves is a highly respected American jazz bassist, composer, and educator. Born in Chicago in 1958, Reeves began his professional career in the early 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a sought-after sideman for prominent figures like Clifford Jordan, Johnny Griffin, and Freddie Hubbard. He’s particularly known for his long-standing association with Richie Cole, appearing on numerous Cole recordings and touring extensively with the saxophonist.

Reeves’ playing is characterized by a robust tone, melodic improvisation rooted in the hard bop tradition, and impeccable timekeeping. He seamlessly blends technical proficiency with emotional depth. As a leader, he’s released several critically acclaimed albums including *Fire Dance* (1992), *Cookin'* (1995), and *Concrete Jungle* (2003) showcasing both original compositions and interpretations of jazz standards.
