Experience Naruhiko Kawaguchi
Naruhiko Kawaguchi is a highly respected Japanese synthesizer programmer and musician, pivotal in shaping the sound of influential video game music, particularly for the *Ridge Racer* series. Beginning his career at Namco (now Bandai Namco Entertainment) in the early 1990s, Kawaguchi quickly became known for his innovative use of the Roland SC-88Pro sound module, pushing its capabilities to create remarkably detailed and atmospheric soundtracks.
He’s celebrated for composing and arranging much of the music for *Ridge Racer*, *Ridge Racer Revolution*, *Ridge Racer 64*, and *Ridge Racer V*. His style blends elements of house, techno, jazz fusion, and progressive rock, often characterized by complex basslines, soaring melodies, and a distinctly energetic feel. Beyond *Ridge Racer*, he contributed to titles like *Star Gladiator* and *Time Crisis*.
Kawaguchi left Namco in 2003 and has since pursued independent projects including album releases under his own name – notably “Naruhiko Kawaguchi presents Project.R” – continuing to explore electronic music composition. He frequently performs live, showcasing both original works and remixes of his classic game soundtracks, maintaining a dedicated international fanbase.
