Moop Mama, the project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Adam Rook, emerged from the vibrant Philadelphia experimental music scene in the early 2010s. Initially a solo endeavor focused on looping and live beat-making, Moop Mama quickly evolved to incorporate collaborators and a broader sonic palette. Rook’s background in jazz drumming heavily influences his approach, resulting in a distinctive blend of electronic music, hip-hop, funk, and psychedelic textures.

Early releases like *Dusk* (2013) established a reputation for intricate rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes. Subsequent albums, including *Inside Out* (2017) and *Saffron Sky* (2020), saw increased emphasis on vocal collaborations – notably with artists like Kendra Monét – and more structured songwriting while retaining improvisational energy.

Moop Mama’s music has been featured on KEXP and Bandcamp Daily, garnering praise for its unique production style and dynamic live performances. He's toured extensively across the US, sharing stages with acts like Lettuce & Khruangbin.
