Mohini Dey is an Indian-American bassist, composer, and producer rapidly gaining international recognition for her virtuosic skill and genre-bending musicality. Born in 1991, Dey began playing bass at age nine and quickly demonstrated exceptional talent, studying under renowned bassist Prasanna. She formally trained at the Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2013.

Dey’s style seamlessly blends jazz fusion, progressive rock, funk, and Indian classical influences – a direct reflection of her diverse upbringing and musical education. She's known for complex improvisations, intricate compositions, and a distinctive tone.

A prolific session musician, Dey has collaborated with artists like Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin (Shakti), Vijay Iyer, and Snarky Puppy’s Michael League. Her debut solo album *Shapes of D* (2023) received critical acclaim for its innovative arrangements and technical prowess. She’s also a sought-after clinician for brands like Fodera basses and Darkglass Electronics. Regularly touring internationally both as a solo artist and with various ensembles, Mohini Dey is establishing herself as a leading voice in contemporary instrumental music.
