Experience Miriam Kutrowatz

Miriam Kutrowatz is an Austrian vocalist, composer, and improviser renowned for her expansive vocal range and innovative approach to vocal jazz and contemporary music. Born in 1986, she studied jazz voice at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, graduating with distinction in 2011. Kutrowatz quickly established herself on the European jazz scene, collaborating with prominent musicians like Wolfgang Reisinger and members of the NDR Bigband.

Her style blends extended vocal techniques – encompassing multiphonics, circular breathing, and wordless improvisation – with influences from free improvisation, contemporary classical music, and traditional folk traditions. She’s a highly sought-after performer known for creating immersive sonic landscapes often exploring themes of nature and human connection.

Kutrowatz leads several projects including her self-titled quartet and the duo "Sura" with pianist Achim Kirchhofer. She has released critically acclaimed albums such as *Aimo* (2017) and *Between Worlds* (2021), receiving awards including the Austrian Music Theatre Award (2023) for her opera project *Wanderlust*.
