Michael Manring is a pioneering American bassist renowned for his innovative approach to the electric bass guitar. With a career spanning over four decades, Manring has established himself as one of the most influential figures in contemporary bass playing. He is best known for his virtuosic technique, which incorporates advanced tapping, harmonics, and extensive use of altered tunings, allowing him to create rich, textured soundscapes that transcend traditional bass roles.

Manring’s style blends elements of jazz, rock, world music, and new age, making his work both versatile and distinctive. As a founding member of the influential band Montreux and a prolific solo artist, he has released numerous albums showcasing his experimental sound and technical mastery.
