Born in 1975, he began his musical journey early, studying at the Vienna Music Academy with renowned percussionists like Leonhard Schmidinger and James Blades. He quickly distinguished himself through prize wins at major international competitions, including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (1998).
Haselböck’s career encompasses solo performances with leading orchestras worldwide – including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra – as well as a prolific recording career. He’s particularly celebrated for championing contemporary percussion repertoire, commissioning and premiering works by composers like Tan Dun and Steve Reich.
Beyond orchestral work, Haselböck is a sought-after chamber musician and educator, holding a professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. His playing is characterized by exceptional technical precision, musicality, and a captivating stage presence.
