Marta Fontanals-Simmons is a Barcelona-born, Berlin-based musician and composer celebrated for her innovative approach to modular synthesis and live performance. Initially trained classically in violin and later exploring jazz improvisation, Fontanals-Simmons transitioned to electronic music, becoming a prominent figure in the experimental and ambient scenes. Her work centers around meticulously crafted soundscapes built from self-built and modified modular synthesizers, often incorporating field recordings and subtle textural layers.

Releases include the critically acclaimed albums *Vermis*, *Drawn in Light*, and *Erosion*, all released on Room40, a label renowned for its dedication to adventurous sound art. She’s also released on Editions Mego. Fontanals-Simmons' compositions eschew traditional song structures, prioritizing atmosphere and sonic exploration; influences range from Brian Eno to Éliane Radigue.
