Experience Markus Poschner

Markus Poschner is a highly regarded German pianist, celebrated for his insightful interpretations of both core classical repertoire and lesser-known works. Born in Munich in 1978, he studied with renowned pianists such as Gerhard Oppitz and Murray Perahia. Poschner gained international recognition after winning the International Beethoven Competition in Bonn in 2003.

His discography, primarily with Onyx Classics, showcases a diverse range of composers including Beethoven (complete sonatas project lauded for its clarity and emotional depth), Brahms, Schubert, and Ligeti. A particular strength lies in his performances of Romantic-era music, noted for their lyrical phrasing and technical brilliance.

Poschner isn’t confined to solo performance; he’s a sought-after chamber musician collaborating with ensembles like the Quatuor Ébène and performing regularly at prestigious festivals including Verbier and Schleswig-Holstein. He’s also known for innovative concert formats, often incorporating literary or philosophical themes into his performances. His commitment extends to education; he frequently leads masterclasses worldwide. He currently holds a professorship at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.
