Mark Adams is a highly respected American jazz trombonist, composer, and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born in 1951, Adams began his professional career in the 1970s, quickly establishing himself as a versatile and in-demand player. He’s notably collaborated with legends like Charles Mingus (playing on *Mingus Dynasty* and *Mingus at Monterey*), Freddie Hubbard, and Bobby Hutcherson.

Adams’ style blends hard bop foundations with elements of avant-garde and Latin jazz, characterized by a powerful tone and inventive improvisation. He's led his own groups for decades, releasing albums including *Ascension*, *Blues for the New Millennium*, and *Diamonds & Pearls*. A dedicated educator, Adams has served on the faculty of San Francisco State University for over thirty years, shaping generations of young musicians.
