MAM.manufaktur für aktuelle musik, founded in 1989 by Michael Maier, is a German independent record label and music production company deeply rooted in electronic music. Initially focused on cassette releases showcasing experimental and industrial sounds, MAM quickly became a crucial platform for early German techno and ambient artists. Key early releases included work from Monolake (Robert Henke), Porter Ricks (Thomas Köner & Andy Mellwig), and Basic Channel affiliates, significantly shaping the Berlin techno sound.
