Madeleine Mitchell is a British violinist celebrated for her versatile career spanning classical performance, improvisation, and cross-genre collaborations. Trained at the Royal College of Music and privately with Yfrah Neaman, she quickly established herself as a dynamic soloist, performing concertos with leading orchestras including the London Mozart Players and the City of London Sinfonia.

Mitchell is particularly renowned for her championing of contemporary music, commissioning and premiering works by composers like Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Michael Finnissy. Beyond traditional repertoire, she’s a highly respected improviser, frequently collaborating in jazz, world music, and theatrical settings – notably with musicians like Django Bates and in productions at Shakespeare's Globe.

Her discography includes critically acclaimed recordings of unaccompanied Bach, Ysaÿe sonatas, and a project blending Baroque music with Indian classical traditions featuring Soumik Datta. A professor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Mitchell continues to perform internationally, pushing boundaries and demonstrating the violin’s expressive potential across diverse musical landscapes. She received an MBE for services to music in 2020.
