Ludovic Morlot is a French conductor renowned for his insightful interpretations and meticulous attention to orchestral detail. Born in 1973, he initially studied violin before dedicating himself to conducting, training with notable figures like Bernard Haitink and David Zinman. He served as Music Director of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra (Finland) from 2012-2017, significantly raising their international profile through critically acclaimed recordings – notably a complete Ravel orchestral cycle for Naxos which garnered widespread praise.

Morlot currently holds the position of Principal Guest Conductor with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra since 2023. Previously, he was Chief Conductor of the Seville Symphony Orchestra (2016-2023), during which time he focused on expanding their repertoire and fostering community engagement. His programming often champions contemporary composers alongside core classical works.
